decisions

I think I may have picked the wrong choice.

I was to decide on whether I should study based on my future or study based on my interest. Every year one DIT student would have to rank the electives they want to study for year two. We were given 5 electives, each with their own pros and cons. Right now, I’m having second thoughts on my chosen elective for year two because I doubt I’ll be able to enter a prestigious university here in Singapore with my lacklustre gpa. I took dsal, which largely focuses on coding, coding and lots of coding. I’m a big fan of html/css and graphic design and was distraught when I had to pick between the two. I knew dsal is a key for university admissions and exemptions which is a big help for my future but at the same time, I wanted to explore my creative side and I knew user interface design would assist me with that. However, it is kind of redundant if I were to pick UID as an elective because I was told by my teacher that I’ve got a core module which is similar to user interface design.

But judging from the estimated gpa cut off points for university, I think it’s pretty impossible to enter NUS when I’m struggling with my course. I’m left with a few weeks before my next exams and I’m feeling really scared and unmotivated. True, I probably shocked everyone (I guess so) when I told them I wanted to study information technology in polytechnic and I am certainly hoping I’m not gonna shock them again (with bad news).

I can’t do much about my future elective because it’s just a small portion compared to the other nine core modules I’ll be taking on next year insyaAllah. All I can do now is study well and constantly remind myself that my parents should have a reason to be proud of me J
