episode one: In-between

by - 11:15 PM

Hello lovelies.
This post was supposed to be published last week but I did not manage to do so because I was too busy cramming up for my examinations. Exam update: I'm finally done with three papers and am left with one last paper next wednesday! I can smell freedom already sigh. But whatever it is, good luck to the rest of the students who are still having their papers!

On the 15th, I met up with my girlfriends for a study session in school.
And as you all know, nothing ever gets done during study sessions and we gave up studying in the afternoon. It was productive at first, but then we lost our moods after watching The Boy Next Door while having our lunch. If you're curious about the movie, one word of advice from me: don't waste your time watching it and spare yourself the gore. Trust me on this, the trailer looked good but the movie sucked so bad and the ending was pretty abrupt.

hi sayang

hi sayang number two (i'm saying it in nina's perspective because
she was the one behind my camera hehehe)

The night before, we planned on treating ourselves with desserts after a productive study session (to keep us motivated) We wanted to visit the newly-opened shop called In-between, which is located at Bukit Panjang Plaza. We were interested in trying out the ice-cream sandwich after looking at photos on twitter and reading good reviews about the store. Not a single one of us knew how to go there or where the shop is located in the mall. But we were really determined to find the store and try out the ice-cream sandwich. And so, marks the first episode of our food adventures with furrealz.

The thoughts of going cafe-hopping and exploring new food has always been on my mind but I haven't really found the right people. Finally I'm able to do that because this two loves good food as much as I do.

And off we go for our first exploration/expedition/whatever you want to call it. We departed from school at around 3pm and made our way to choa chu kang. Cck will always have a special place in my heart because I would always go to my cousin's house and we'd watch Power Rangers and climb on tables and chairs (because they were guys and I was pretty active back then) and eat good food prepared by my aunt. After alighting at cck, we then took the lrt to bukit panjang. We were so shocked at the tap out station because the tap out machines were so old school! It's a bummer that I didn't took any photo of the machines but I'll give you a visual explanation. It's like those machines at the entrance of any swimming complex. We were so confused for a brief moment and continued walking.

There were no visible signs around the area we alighted and we eventually asked for directions from a the owner of a convenience store nearby. All she gave us was "walk straight". We didn't really want to ask any more questions so we just used our instincts to navigate. We manage to find the mall, despite breaking into sweat a little too much. We then made our way to find the store.

We spent about ten minutes or so finding the store because there weren't any signs and the store wasn't listed on the mall directory. And so, here's In-between. We were expecting a long line of eager customers while making our way to the store but to our surprise, there wasn't anyone at all! It must have been our lucky day.

There were cookie samples at the counter and we gladly took the samples. The friendly staff also told us that we can sample the ice cream too. The staff was pretty relaxed and she was happy to strike a conversation with us, recommending the best combinations and then we made our choices.

Most of the pictures here are taken by Nina (thanks babe) because both Nini and I were too busy sampling the cookies and were having difficulties choosing our desired cookie flavour and ice-cream to go along with. Nina made her decision quickly and she snapped pictures after making her decision. One ice-cream sandwich costs $4.90 and to us, it was worth the money. We were told that we are able to choose two different cookie flavours.
There were so many cookie flavours to choose from, and all of them were so delicious!

I think I got ginger and red velvet flavoured cookies, and salted caramel ice-cream as the filing. Look at the size! I wouldn't mind travelling all the way to Bukit Panjang Plaza to get this because it's super delicious and affordable. Plus, we were drenched in sweat under the sweltering heat and the sandwich made up for the weather.
Overall, I feel that the store has many good options and the pricing is really reasonable. I'd love to go there again to try the ice-cream! It was a waste that my ice-cream melted too quickly the other day.
